Workplace Day of Action at Roslin Institute

Members across the University joined the UCU call for a Workplace Day of Action to demand a ceasefire in the escalating conflict in the Palestinian territories and now in Lebanon which is causing intolerable death and suffering. See photos from Roslin Institute and Central Campus gatherings.

The University Court met on Monday to discuss demands from staff and students for the UoE to divest from all funds that are linked to actions by the Israeli military. You can read a statement following up on the meeting here. While we’re glad to see that the pause on new investments in the high tech enablers of the Israeli Defense Force bombing campaigns will continue for now, and that a new group to ensure that future investments meet the highest ethical standards will be set up, the devil is in the details, as we outlined in our letter to Court. We’ll need to keep the pressure on to push for this group to have powers beyond the advisory, and for it to include appropriate experts.
